Values help us name what we believe — but they only matter when they shape how we live and lead. This exercise is designed to help you move from admiring values to practicing them intentionally.
Review the list of values above.
Instructions:
Circle 5–7 values that feel most important to you right now.
From those, star ⭐ 2–3 values that are non-negotiable — values you would protect even if it cost you comfort, convenience, or approval.
If everything is a value, nothing is a value. This step helps you prioritize what truly guides your decisions.
For each ⭐ starred value, answer the questions below. Be specific — clarity lives in details.
1. What does this value look like in practice?
How would someone know this value matters to you?
What behaviors would they consistently observe?
2. What does this value require of you when it’s inconvenient?
What might you have to say “no” to?
What would this value ask you to do when it’s uncomfortable?
3. Where is this value already showing up in your life?
At work
At home
In relationships
In how you handle conflict or pressure
4. Where is this value not showing up yet?
What situations tend to test or weaken it?
What patterns might need to change?
Complete the table below for each starred value.
Value: ______________________
I live this value when I:
(Example: “Tell the truth even when it’s awkward.”)
I violate this value when I:
(Example: “Avoid hard conversations to keep the peace.”)
One small behavior I can practice this week:
(Example: “Give clear, honest feedback instead of hinting.”)
Before important decisions, ask yourself:
Does this choice align with my starred values?
Which value is being strengthened by this decision?
Which value might be compromised if I choose differently?
Values don’t eliminate hard decisions — they clarify them.
Values are not proven by words or intentions. They are revealed through patterns of behavior over time.
You don’t drift into values-driven living. You choose it — again and again.
